Not quite ready to sleep among the masses in an eight, or even twelve-bed dorm yet? You’re not on your own. Even the most hardened of travellers still need a touch of a solidarity whilst on the road, sometimes booking into a cheap hotel, or private hostel room. To walk out of the shower naked, pass-wind without grace, or simply to enjoy some piece and quiet.
If you’re traveling as a couple or with a friend your options in terms of cost-effective privacy are always going to be better. Here’s a quick comparison looking at booking a cheap hotel versus a private room in a hostel. The prices shown below are based on two people sharing – so half it for a per person price!
ATMOSPHERE
Before you instantly disregard a hostel, consider the added benefits that you just won’t get at a hotel. Firstly, cheap hotels are unlikely to offer breakfast – so scrap that off the comparison list already. Plus, staying in a hostel gives you access to other like-minded people; explorers, adventures, and people keen to meet people – people-people. That’s your night out sorted.
LOCATION
Hostels, mostly aimed at us ‘young explorers,’ also tend to be much more central in the destination you want to explore. Booking two or three-star cheap hotels may find you cast out in the middle of an industrial estate paying through the nose on transport! It just doesn’t work out in the end.
